Disney World Adds New Character Lunch at the Animal Kingdom theme park

Beginning Dec. 4th, character lunches available at Tusker House restaurant in Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. Daisy & Donald Duck will appear. Character lunches are better than character breakfasts because you get to ride the rides while the crowds are at their lowest (morning) and then sit down for a meal and a break when the crowds start to build. Yea, Disney!

Hall of Presidents in the Magic Kingdom Theme Park at Disney World

I finally got around to seeing the Hall of Presidents for the first time after the recent renovation adding President Obama. It’s a good attraction and certainly worth seeing…at least once. I usually wander through its doors more for air conditioning than for education reasons, which undoubtedly shows some weakness of character on my part. Don’t get me wrong – I love my country; I just love Big Thunder Mountain (a roller coaster) too.

Anyway…I watched the performance and, as always, have to admit that Disney does almost everything well and The Hall of Presidents is no exception. I think you’ll appreciate the section that highlights Lincoln. You can watch the whole video or – for just the Lincoln portion – begin watching at about 5 minutes, into the video below:

I love the section where Lincoln says, “I know that there is a God, and that He hates injustice and slavery. I see a storm coming; I know His hand is in it. If he has a place and a work for me – and I think He has - I believe I am ready. I am nothing but Truth is everything. And, with God’s help, I shall not fail “ It’s very powerful.

Isaiah 30:18 says, “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are those who wait for Him!

Isaiah 61:8a says, “For I, the Lord, love justice; I hate robbery and iniquity.”

May we be a people who love justice!

The Friendless, Voiceless Disney Princess – Something to think about.

It’s interesting because I always joke that we need to start a prayer group for Belle because I’m just really worried about her. At first it seems that she’s smart and has a lot on the ball. She reads – that’s good, right? Except she reads romance novels. And she ends up with a guy who was turned to a beast because, frankly, he’s a world class jerk. A jerk that imprisons her and her father. Gaston is also a jerk but he never locked her up anywhere – that ought to be a point in his favor. Her love for the Beast seems pretty disfunctional and I want to scream at the screen, “Don’t marry a monster for his books, Belle – get a library card!!!” My friends smile, roll their eyes, and remind me that it’s just a cartoon.

Anyway, I thought the above blog post by Hannah Faith Notess was very interesting and makes me want to form a discussion group. I want to know what this makes people (male & female) think. Please, please, please comment!

Easter Services at Walt Disney World Resort on April 4, 2010

Easter Church Services are offered in the Fantasia Ballroom at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The Contemporary Resort is near the Magic Kingdom theme park.

Catholic Mass is offered at 8:00 AM & 10:15 AM.

A Protestant Service will be held at 9:00 AM.

Please avoid Epcot & the Magic Kingdom on Easter Sunday – both of those theme parks will be very crowded.
